Shadow The Hedgehog has a number of secrets for the committed player to unlock...

Extra Weapons
Complete the game following any "6-X" Level which you have not already completed, and complete either Mission. You will receive the new weapon upon defeating the Boss.

Level 2 Extra Weapons
Do the same as above, but complete the other Mission in the "6-X" Level to unlock the Level 2 upgrade for your Extra Weapons.

Shadow Rifle
To unlock the powerful Shadow Rifle, complete the Last Story.

Expert Mode
Expert Mode can be unlocked by obtaining a top rank on every Mission of every Level in the game. This mode puts you up against a harder version of one Mission on all of the Levels, with no Bosses.

Cameos And References
Shadow The Hedgehog, despite its new image, isn't afraid to make a few brief references to other Series'. Here are all the ones we've found so far...

Blue Falcon/Black Bull
While the G.U.N. Mech, Blue Falcon, is an obvious nod to the product of the Nintendo/SEGA partnership which is the F-ZERO Series, slightly less obvious is that the Black Bull is another reference. The Blue Falcon and the Black Bull are the racing machines of Captain Falcon and Black Shadow, respectively. Captain Falcon is a famous super-hero, while Black Shadow is an infamous super-villain. Interestingly, the Blue Falcon only appears as the Boss of The ARK (which is on the darkest route), and the Black Bull only appears as the Boss of Lethal Highway and Death Ruins (both on the very most heroic route).

Yugi Naka
Yugi Naka, famous creator of Sonic, has a cameo role in this game as an innocent civilian. During the Black Arms invasion of Central City, standing around a group of human, non-attacking G.U.N. Troopers can result in one of them saying into his communicators, "Mr. Yugi Naka is safe!".

Trivia
Shadow The Hedgehog has so far received higher ratings from most content ratings boards than any other game in the Sonic Series.

It is also the first game in the Sonic Series to feature the entire Sonic X vocal cast.

Dr. Eggman is the only character in the game who is the protagonist of both Hero and Dark missions.
