SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2

Shortly after his victory in Sonic The Hedgehog 1, Sonic must once again journey to stop Doctor Robotnik's evil schemes! Now with the help of a trusty new sidekick, Tales, Sonic must journey through an all new world filled with tons of brand new levels and challenges. It will take the duo strength, speed, and determination, to stop Robotnik this time, and even that may not be enough, as they must try and also collect the seven Chaos Emeralds to aquire a power unlike any other to use to put an end to Robotnik's evil ambition

Invincibility Sonic/Tails will be surrounded by stars and for a few moments be invincible (butyou can still die if you fall to the bottom of the screen or get crushed, so be careful!). _________________________________________________________

Lampost These are checkpoints. Once you run past one and activate it, whenever you die you will restart from that point. They are also used to initiate the special stages to obtain chaos emeralds. _________________________________________________________

One-Up A picture of Sonic/Tails; it gives them an extra life! _________________________________________________________

Power Sneakers These will allow Sonic/Tails to run faster for a short while. _________________________________________________________

Super Ring This will give you 10 rings. _________________________________________________________

Shield This covers Sonic/Tails in a faint blue shield that protects them from one badnik attack.

Endings (needs to be ported to the wiki!) Number of Endings: 3 How to obtain the endings: Beat Dr. Robotnik with Sonic (with or without all emeralds) and Tails (doesn’t matter for him). Endings Description: Destroy the Giant Robotnik machine with 12 hits and the ship gets ready to blow. Sonic or Tails will make a break for it to the escape hatch as the spaceship blows up in flames. Sonic’s Endings There are black and white pictures of the spaceship blowing up, Tails and friends looking on, Tails boards the plane, then takes off. Cut to Sonic spinning in circles as he falls down. Tails will catch him in the nick of time. Bluebirds (Flickies?) will fly behind the plane for a little bit before Tails does a plane dive and Sonic jumps off the plane with his fist pumped. If you gathered all the Emeralds, then Sonic will be Super Sonic and instead of spinning as he falls, he spreads his arms out and then flies alongside the plane. Instead of Bluebirds (Flickies?), Eagles will come instead. When Tails dips the plane, Super Sonic flies from behind then emerges in front in a Superman-like style. Tails Ending Just the same except there is no cutscene. Tails is just spinning as he falls down. After a while, Sonic flies by and catches him. Roosters join the flight before Sonic dips the plane and Tails jumps off with his feet extended. After this the credits roll and at the end it will show the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 logo. There is no good or bad ending here.

Controls (needs to be ported to the wiki!) Directional Pad: [ Left & Right ]: Run [ Up & Down ]: Look in direction pointed A, B, and C buttons: Jump The only special move of any sort that you have, the Spin Dash allows you to get a boost of speed. Press Down and Jump together (and press Jump more times for a boost) then let go to make Sonic (or Tails) speed away in the ball position! Spin Dash:

Versus (needs to be ported to the wiki!) Versus is simply a 2-Player (Split-Screen) Versus mode. The object of this mode is to reach the end of the stage before your opponent, except the bonus stage which is based on who ever collects the most rings. The levels available for play are: Casino Night Zone, Emerald, Mystic Cave Zone, and a Special Stage. The order in which you play is completely up to you, but you must complete all levels to decide a winner. The gameplay is otherwise normal with the addition of two new items:

: Hitting this box is equivalent to being attacked. Hope you have some rings when you touch this one ;)

: Hitting this box will cause both players to switch places. Use it wisely. When both players reach the end of the stage, the true winner will be decided by such criteria as total rings collected, rings in hand, time, score and number of items broken. But if one player reaches the end and the other lags behind, they have exactly one minute to reach the end or they die. Have fun!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the best-selling Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game of all time.

The developers wanted to pay tribute to two of the biggest franchises in pop-culture from both the East and the West. From the East we received Super Sonic, which is a tribute to Dragonball Z's Super Saiyan characters. From the West we received the end level, the Death Egg, which is based off of Star Wars' Death Star.

The game's level select code 19, 65, 09, 17 is actually Yuji Naka's birthday, the creator of the Sonic series. September 17th, 1965

The game's debug code 1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4 stands for November 24th, 1992, which is the US version's release date.
