Big the Cat is a large, yet gentle, purple cat with yellow eyes. He first debuted in Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, and later appeared as a playable character in Sonic Shuffle and Sonic Heroes. In addition, he made various cameo appearances in other games such as Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast. In Sonic Adventure 2, he will walk by the screen at certain times by pressing the A button rapidly. He is 18 years old. He has been voiced by Syun Yashiro and Takashi Nagasako in Japanese, and Jon St. John and Pete Zarustica in English.

Big is a fisherman, and brings his fishing rod (which can be used as an umbrella) with him wherever he goes. He lives in a hut at the Mystic Ruins with his best friend, Froggy. Big is simple minded and appears to be somewhat slow witted, but is also very humble, friendly and protective of his friends. He likes to fish whenever he can with his best friend. In Sonic Adventure, you have to fish for Froggy in different levels.
