Blaze the Cat made her debut in Sonic Rush for the Nintendo DS as a playable character whose story overlapped that of Sonic's. Blaze came from a different dimension than Sonic and crossed into Sonic's dimension while searching for her stolen Sol Emeralds, which she guarded. In her dimension she is also a princess. She can control fire, and with the Sol Emeralds, she transforms into her super form, Burning Blaze.

Blaze enters Sonic's world looking for the Sol Emeralds believing that Sonic was the one who stole them. It turns out that Eggman Nega, the "Eggman" of her world stole them. Sonic and Blaze team up to defeat the two Eggmans.
In Sonic the Hedgehog, Blaze is shown as a close companion of Silver the Hedgehog's, the pair travelling together after being sent into the past by Mephiles in order to search for the Iblis Trigger. Their future was devastated by Iblis which Mephiles informs them was released by Sonic in the past. Towards the end of the story, Blaze seals Iblis within herself and, after Silver refuses to do so for her, sends herself into another dimension so that he cannot be released again.

Blaze appears briefly in the Sonic the Hedgehog Archie comics series after being rescued by Sonic from a group of SWATbots. Blaze is initially hostile towards Sonic but soon realises they are on the same side.
