The Carnival Night Zone is the fourth zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles and is reminiscent of the same sort of style as the Casino Night Zone, only, as the name suggests, being themed more towards a carnival than a casino. After defeating Dr. Robotnik in the Marble Garden Zone, Sonic and Tails fly down into the Carnival Night Zone, whilst Knuckles takes a tunnel.

The zone is brightly lit and full of bouncers, springs, cannons, balloons and many other devices to bounce and propel the player around the zone. There are anti-gravity pads to cause the player to float in the air and rotating barrels which some can be made to move up and down by pressing Up and Down on the d-pad. Some areas of the zone are flooded however, and during act 2 Knuckles turns off the power to the lighting in an attempt to heed their progress. Later on, Sonic and Tails can turn the lighting back on.
