Dark Chao

Dark Chao appear in the Sonic Adventure games and their remakes.

In Sonic Adventure, if you mistreat your chao in its baby stage they will slowly grow darker. If they are left at a very dark stage when they evolve they will turn into a Dark Chao. This is not recommended as Dark Chao, aside from having different element transformations, are no different to the regular chao.

Sonic Adventure 2's Chao Garden uses Dark and Hero Chao in a whole new way. Rather than mistreating a chao to turn it dark you simply start being kind to it with a dark alignment character. Alternatively one could be mean to it with a Hero character, but this may cause unwanted long-term effects.

When you get your first Dark Chao, you receive the Dark Garden.

• Flight Chao - Looks somewhat like Reala from NiGHTS.
• Flight + Flight Chao - Looks alot like Reala from NiGHTS.
• Running Chao - Looks like Shadow but with green stripes.
• Running + Running Chao - A full Shadow Chao.
