Labyrinth Zone

Labyrinth Zone is the fourth level in Sonic 1. The major danger in this level is not badniks or spikes, but the water levels. Sonic is not a proficent swimmer, meaning if he stays underwater long enough, he will die. It is often considered to be the hardest level in the game.

Here are a few tips on how to defeat bosses and complete this level perfectly.

A countdown will appear if Sonic stays underwater for too long. You must grab an air bubble for Sonic to breathe before the countdown ends. If the countdown ends before you grab an air bubble, Sonic will drown, losing a chance.

• Act 1: 69 rings (+40 10 ring monitors)
• Act 2: 57 rings (+60 10 ring monitors)
• Act 3: 28 rings (+110 10 ring monitors)

[edit] Boss Battle

The boss battle in this zone is not so much a battle but a gauntlet run. Sonic must chase Dr. Robotnik through an ascending passage, with no air bubbles, and with various spikes and badniks. Reaching the top is sufficent to complete the stage, however, landing eight hits on Robotnik will also end this zone. It would be better to just reach the top than trying to land eight hits on Robotnik though.
