The Marble Garden Zone is the third zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles and is somewhat reminiscent of the Marble Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog, only containing much more grassland and being larger over all. After finishing the Hydrocity Zone, the player is propelled into the Marble Garden Zone via a jet of water from the ground.
The zone is a maze of ruins with pools of a dark liquid scattered throughout. There are also blue spinning tops which can be used to travel at high speeds and also to fly to reach higher areas. During act 2 Dr. Robotnik attacks periodically in his Drill Mobile, creating a shock wave throughout the area which causes sections of the zone to start to crumble apart.
