Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood is a Sonic RPG on the DS. It was released in Australia first on September 25th, 2008 and in Europe the following day. At the end of the month it was released in America.

The battle system consists of aspects from traditional turn-based RPGs, plus a timing system for POW Moves that is similar to the gameplay seen in Elite Beat Agents.

Escaping from battle sparks a running mini-game where you are required to click on your character to have them jump over crates as they travel across the screen to safety.

Chaos make a return in Sonic Chronicles - linking them to characters yields a variety of bonuses ranging from elemental attacks to added HP, or even guarented hits on your POW moves. You collect Chao eggs that are scattered across the world map, and hatch as you travel.
