Mayhem in the Marble Zone

  • Script: Mark Millar
  • Art: Casanovas
  • Lettering: Elitta Fell

Deep in the Marble Zone, Tufftee Acorn is trapped at the bottom of a pit, surrounded by various badniks who threaten to squash him with one of Dr. Robotnik's wrecking balls. He pleads with them to stop, saying he only came to the Marble Zone to try and save his friends, like Sonic would.

Back in the Green Hill Zone, Sonic is interrupted from listening to his music by Tails who has brought Sally Acorn to see him. She is distressed because her younger brother, Tufftee, found a pair of Sonic's old boots and has since gone missing. Sonic thinks that his old boots would still have some energy left, enough to get Tufftee into trouble, so he runs off to try and find him, leaving Sally with Tails. He heads towards the Marble Zone, thinking Tufftee would be there by now, but accidentally collects too many rings and ends up in the Special Zone by mistake.

Tufftee being harassed by Badniks
Back in the Marble Zone, the badniks are still picking on Tufftee, he tries to escape but has little control over his speed in Sonic's old boots, and soon finds himself surrounded. Sonic finally arrives in the Marble Zone and comes to Tufftee's rescue, destroying the badniks and freeing the animals inside. One of the Motobugs tries to escape causing Sonic to chase after him and inadvertently step under a falling spike chain, but luckily Tufftee pushes Sonic of out the way in time. Tufftee feels happy that he could finally be a hero as he saved Sonic's life.

Sonic and Tufftee soon find Tails and Sally back in the Green Hill Zone, where Sally is obviously relieved that Tufftee has returned safely. Sonic then takes back his shoes and warns Tufftee not to try and step in for him again.
