Back to Reality

  • Script: Nigel Kitching
  • Art: Richard Elson
  • Lettering: Elitta Fell

Continuing from the last issue, Omni-Viewer returns Sonic, Tails, Johnny Lightfoot and Porker Lewis to the Emerald Hill Zone. Sonic is confused, as Omni-Viewer told them that Dr. Robotnik had taken over everything in the Special Zone, including him, but somehow Omni-Viewer was able to disobey and release them. Omni-Viewer just tells Sonic that whilst he didn't actually disobey him, he also didn't follow the orders precisely as they were sloppily worded, but before going into further detail he disappears. Moments later the group is attacked by two large badniks in a design that they have never seen before. They are also much tougher as they are able to withstand a Super Spin Attack. Realising that he won't be able to beat them with strength alone, Sonic instead manages to get between the two of the badniks, luring them into shooting each other.

The two animals inside, Joe Sushi and a dalmatian, are surprised and relieved to see Sonic as he had gone missing six months ago, everyone had actually thought that Sonic was dead. Johnny then realises what must have happened, Omni-Viewer didn't exactly just release them, he released them six months into the future. They decide to check out the village, although the dalmatian warns them that things have changed since they were last here.

Once they reach the village they see it is overrun with Trooper badniks who are forcing the residents to work, whilst flying egg cameras are keeping an eye on everything. One of the residents of the village is being harassed by the Troopers for failing to report to work duty, the punishment for this (and everything else) is death. Sonic intervenes, but the badniks are tough and Sonic can't easily break them as he is worried that he will hurt the Emerald Hill folk trapped inside. The resident though tells Sonic that these type of badniks don't actually have a prisoner inside, meaning Sonic can really go for it without having to be concerned, easily destroying them.

As one of the surveillance eggs floats by, Sonic yells at it, warning Dr. Robotnik that he will rid the planet of him. Dr. Robotnik gets the message through the floating egg, although he isn't concerned at all.
