Sonic and Porker Lewis are in the Casino Night Zone when they run into a dog who has lost all his money gambling. Sonic informs him that Dr. Robotnik has rigged all the games in the zone, and is hypnotising the visitors into compulsive gamblers using a giant statue of himself in the centre of the zone to emit the rays.

At the head of the statue the are the Marxio Brothers, Grouchio, Chicio and Harpio, who are discussing with Dr. Robotnik via a video link how a spy has informed him that Sonic is planning a raid on the Casino Night Zone and, as the zone generates a lot of money for him, he wants them to put a stop to it. Dr. Robotnik threatens to send the brothers back to Marxio World if they fail, which horrifies the brothers.

Sonic in the Casino Night Zone
Meanwhile Sonic and Porker have gotten closer to the statue, but it's not close enough for Porker's disruptor device to stop the central computer. So Sonic takes the device and decides to get closer himself, heading off and leaving Porker behind. As the Marxio Brothers are watching Sonic via the surveillance they send out a group of Trooper badniks to deal with Sonic, who manage to corner Sonic into a trap which sends Sonic falling into one of the zone's pinball machines. Finally Sonic reaches the bottom of the trap, but finds that the Marxio Brothers have captured Porker Lewis whilst he was busy in the pinball machine.

Moments later, Sonic and Porker are tied to the track of the zone's roller coaster which is coming towards them.

[edit] Ecco the Dolphin

Ecco the Dolphin, Part 1

  • Script: Woodrow Phoenix
  • Art: Steve White
  • Lettering: Tom Frame

Ecco, with his new powers from the Glyphs he found in Atlantis, is swimming through the seas and comes across one of the Vortex devices. However unlike the others, this one resists his sonar blasts and reveals itself to be the Asterite. It explains to Ecco that perhaps it would be best to destroy Ecco along with the Vortex in order to stop the battling between them as, after all, the Vortex is only finding food to survive, much like Ecco does. Ecco attacks the Asterite with his sonar but it has no effect but the attack impressed the Asterite enough to offer a deal with him.

As Ecco can't defeat the Vortex even with his current powers, the Asterite offers to help him. The Asterite is actually from a far off place like the Vortex and when it arrived on Earth it split itself so it could search all over the planet. However part of itself, the Black Pearl, is still missing and without it the Asterite can't return home. If Ecco can find the missing Black Pearl, then the Asterite agrees to teach Ecco the Vortex language and aid him in sending the Vortex back home. Ecco agrees and swims off to search for the Black Pearl.

[edit] The Legend of the Golden Axe

Plague of Serpents, Part 6

  • Script: Mark Eyles
  • Art: Mike White
  • Lettering: Ellie de'Ville

Bursting through the roof of the cave, the dragons which the Queen summoned come to their aid and attack the snakes and priests summoning them. Gilius and Yuki also pitch in, using their powers and the Golden Axe to fend off the attackers. Gilius is even able to kill Cobraxis just in time to save Yuki from him. Soon enough the Queen, Gilius and Yuki are able to leave and even find Ax-Battler, who is feeling very confused after being in a trance the entire time. To thank Gilius and Yuki for their hard work, the Queen gives them both a dagger made of Dragon Gold, as it turns out, the stash of enchanted metal was right under where they had all been fighting.

They all return to Rockguard and meet up with Tyris who is now recovered, but since they have been gone, Gilius and Yuki's father had died from his injuries from the attack. They give him a funeral and have a grand feast afterwards, as he would have wanted.

[edit] Tails

The Land Beyond, Part 1

  • Script: Nigel Kitching
  • Art: Dave Windett and John Burns
  • Lettering: Elitta Fell

In the Nameless Zone, the Enchanter Kings summon Tails again through the portal, which, as he steps through, automatically allows the enchanted battle armour to form around Tails' body. The Enchanter Kings explain that they need Tails help to rescue the third Enchanter King, Shirob. Tails is confused as he thought that Shirob had vanished years ago, but the kings explain that Shirob did vanish just before Trogg first appeared in the zone. After defeating Trogg they banished him across the Dimension Bridge into the Land Beyond. As they never saw Shirob again, it had been assumed that Trogg had killed him, but Shirob has contacted the Kings since then, sending a message that Trogg has had him imprisoned in the Land Beyond for years, and they want Tails to rescue him.

Tails and Errol in the Land Beyond
As the journey will be dangerous, the Kings have brought on the help of their bravest fox warrior, Errol Blackthorn, who has also studied all the texts about the Land Beyond. The pair head over the Dimension Bridge into the Land Beyond and are attacked by monsters as soon as they arrive.
