The Sonic the Hedgehog Archie comics series is an American produced, currently on-going comic series based on Sonic the Hedgehog and holds the record for the longest running comic series based on a game character. The series is published monthly.

At the start of the comics run the comic was made to mirror the storyline presented in the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon and features Sonic and the other Freedom Fighters such as Sally and Tails opposing Dr. Robotnik who is trying to take over Mobius. In the beginning, the stories were mostly singular, self-contained stories but as time went on the plots became longer and more complex, introducing many more original characters. Like the UK produced Sonic the Comic, the Archie comic would also re-tell stories based on the current Sonic games being released at the time.
