Spring Yard Zone

From Sonic - Wiki on Neoseeker

Jump to: navigation, search
Spring Yard Zone follows on from Marble Zone in Sonic 1. Bumpers and springs dominate this level, a cityscape full of slopes and twists. This zone's design inspired many similar stages in future Sonic games, such as Casino Night Zone in Sonic 2. It was known as Sparkling Zone in the betas. The description from the US/EU manual of Sonic 1 reads as follows:

Jump from springs and bounce off bumpers as if you're in a real pinball machine.

[edit] Strategies

Here are a few tips on how to defeat bosses and complete this level perfectly.

[edit] Maximum Rings Available

  • Act 1: 157 rings (+20 10 ring monitors)
  • Act 2: 222 rings
  • Act 3: 163 rings (+30 10 ring monitors)

[edit] Boss Battle

This battle is quite tricky compared to others in the game. Dr. Robotnik has a spike attached to his Egg Mobile, where he descends and destroys blocks Sonic is standing on. Falling into the gaps left from the blocks will kill you. The only time you can hit Robotnik however, is when he flies down to grab a block. It is better to get Robotnik to work from one end to the other, therefore you do have more ground to cover and less chance of accidently falling down. Another pressure is that you have to take out Robotnik fast, or else your standing ground will disappear completely.
