[edit] Course #1: Resort Island

A beach-filled island with various rock formations. There is also an archipelago here, in this Course. Shortcut: In the Time Attack Mode, cut through the right side of the trees to the right of the Speed-Booster to arrive at the final loop of the Course. Also, try heading through the ruins after the waterfall in any Mode to save a second or five.

[edit] Course #2: Radical City

The inspiration for numerous Stages in others of Sonic's games, Radical City is comparable to, and very much like, as well, the Birmingham Spaghetti Junction (minus the traffic). The roads here twist and turn all over the shop, and parts of them are submerged. A three-way intersection near ground level dominates the routes of this Course. Shortcut: As you head up a road after a section on the ground, you will come to a split in the road. Turn right at this split, crash through the barriers, and land in the arena below. Head forward, collecting the Sonic Token as you go, and you will arrive just before the large spring bumper. Do this as Dr. Robotnik and you'll be laughing.

[edit] Course #3: Regal Ruin

Presumably located on Angel Island, this area contains numerous areas in which a careless player could be slowed down for a moment. Use your sharp turns well on this Course. Shortcut: This Shortcut is so big that it isn't even funny. Acquire 20+ Rings (easily done before you reach the first Ring Gate on the first Lap), dash through the first Ring Gate, navigate the (rather dodgy) steps up ahead, run to the right and follows the corkscrew. This will bring you out just before the large, round, water-filled pool. If you fail to take that Shortcut, take the small track to the left after the downhill hairpin turn, as opposed to moving along the uphill track to the right again.

[edit] Course #4: Reactive Factory

Dr. Robotnik's cliched floating base, this Course resembles Bean's Arena from Sonic The Fighters. As the name suggests, the Course is dominated by a large reactor system, with various roads, loops and platforms around it. The submarines here can be used as platforms, and there are numerous alternate routes throughout the Course. If you appear to be behind as you are about to drop off to the "Line" from the higher route, don't be concerned - the game doesn't update your position until you have almost lander from there. Shortcut: As you spring up early on in the Course, pull to the left. After landing in the water, swim under the jumps to the platforms ahead of you.

[edit] Course #X: Radiant Emerald

Sonic's answer to Super Mario Kart's Rainbow Road, Radiant Emerald is the longest and probably most belief-defying Course in the entire game. Quite how the Graphics of this Course can be so smooth in comparison to the Character Models is beyond me! Radiant Emerald is basically one long, linear, wide track, with the only alternate routes being accessible through the use of the Ring Gates. Hence, Time Attack Races on this Course are generally much more intense than they are on other Courses. Oh, and Knuckles has a terrible tendency to get massive speed boosts for no apparent reason on this Course when he is being controlled by the game's systems. As a side-note, if you don't want to listen to the romantic, obviously Amy-inspired theme of Diamonds In The Sky, playing as Super-Sonic will allow you to listen to Super-Sonic Racing. Not that it's any better, mind you... Shortcut: Unless the alternate routes are faster at all, there are no shortcuts on this Course. I told you it was intense!
