Tunnel Bot is the fifth boss in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles and is found at the end of Act 1 in the Marble Garden Zone. The boss is a levitating device with two drills attached to it which can drill upwards and downwards into the ground of ceiling.

The boss is quite simple in that when it drills, it causes debris to fall from the ceiling, in a similar fashion to Drill Eggman 2, previously seen in the Mystic Cave Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Apart from the drills, the boss itself is vulnerable to attack. When playing as Knuckles, due to his smaller jump, a spiked platform moves around the stage to enable Knuckles to reach the boss.
