Versus Mode (StH2Retro)

Versus is simply a 2-Player (Split-Screen) Versus mode. The object of this mode is to reach the end of the stage before your opponent, except the bonus stage which is based on who ever collects the most rings. The levels available for play are: Casino Night Zone, Emerald, Mystic Cave Zone, and a Special Stage. The order in which you play is completely up to you, but you must complete all levels to decide a winner. The gameplay is otherwise normal with the addition of two new items:

: Hitting this box is equivalent to being attacked. Hope you have some rings when you touch this one ;)


: Hitting this box will cause both players to switch places. Use it wisely.


When both players reach the end of the stage, the true winner will be decided by such criteria as total rings collected, rings in hand, time, score and number of items broken.

But if one player reaches the end and the other lags behind, they have exactly one minute to reach the end or they die.
